The India Post,Chandigarh, October 27, 2008: BIG 92.7 FM Chandigarh, in a first-of-its-kind initiative and in keeping up with the ‘Vibe of the City’ celebrated the Festival of Lights Diwali with Kids, Candles and lots of Diyas. After lighting of first candle by Mrs. Madhu Bahl, Principal of KB DAV Sr. Sec. Public School, around 50 girls of All girls Cricket Team of Yuvsatta in Bapu Dham joined together to light hundreds of more candles and diyas to celebrate the ‘Festival of Light’. The celebrations were organized in the heart of the city, Sector 17 with a message of ‘Say No to Crackers’. These Diyas and Canldes were made by the kids of Bapu Dham colony after a hard work of many days. The Diya & Candle Celebrations saw a huge response of city residents as they came together to support the message of ‘say no to noisy crackers’.
Speaking on the occasion, Siddharth Bhardwaj, Regional Director, North – I, BIG 92.7 FM, said, "The idea of today’s Celebrations is to spread a noble thought of lighting up Diyas and Candles on Diwali. These little angels are the best source to spread this message amongst the city residents. Moreover the kids have really worked hard to make these Diyas with their own hands. BIG 92.7 FM and Yuvsatta would like to request the city to light up their house with Diyas and celebrate this Festival with the true spirits of Peace." All the Radio Jocks of the BIG 92.7 FM appealed for crackers free Deepawali during their shows throughout the day.
