Chandigarh 1st October 2013: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chandigarh has demanded a survey of the street hawkers in the city. Mr Sanjay Tandon, the BJP Chandigarh chief announced this while addressing the Footpath Cycle and Hawker Workers Union. This meeting was held in Sector 20. Ward President Mr Rajinder Singh also participated in this meeting. Union’s President Mr Ram Milan Gour, General Secretary Mr Rampal, Mr Irfan Khan, Mr Ramesh Chandra and Mr Lal Krishan were also present at the meeting.
Mr Sanjay Tandon said that the paupers according to the number of licenses in a given area should be provided with a proper market. BJP is trying everything possible from its end to materialize this. He said that BJP councilors were successful in building such a market in Maulijagra area of the city, but Congress made this an agenda in the parliament and got it annulled despite the Municipal Corporation spending lakhs of rupees on it. Congress has always been an enemy of the poor and will do anything to suppress them. “In fact, the Congress government has left no stone unturned to ruin the life of the common man, be it inflation or a legitimate source of income”, said Mr Tandon. BJP has offered its unconditional support to the cause of the street hawkers.
On this occasion BJP Chandigarh Vice President Mr Harishankar Mishra said that the BJP is not going to tolerate this heartless attitude of the Congress party towards the poor of this country. It befools the poor during the time of election only for electoral gains and then is nowhere to be seen for the next five years. The people of this city have awakened and have resolved to oust the Congress from the government.
