Chandigarh, August 25, 2009: Today, Yuvsatta and Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Chandigarh Administration jointly started a month long awareness lectures in Schools of Chandigarh & Panchkula, underlining various options to join Indian Army. And first such lecture was organized for over 250 senior students through Peace Club of New Public School, Sector 18 B, Chandigarh. Lt. Col. RK Singh, Rtd., Zila Sainik Welfare Officer was the main speaker.
Addressing the young students Lt. Col. RK Singh said that apart from attractive pay and perks, Indian Army offers its officers the best in Life Style, even better than all other professions. Be it the social interaction, finest clubs, golf courses, medical facilities and ample opportunities to indulge in adventure and sports, Army has it all. In fact officers & jawans are paid to lead a healthy life in a healthy environment. He further shared that facilities like subsidized housing, free medical for self & family, canteen facilities, group insurance cover, soft loans for house and/or vehicle and above all the feeling of belonging to a family (Army) which cares for its people, are the perks of the Army which no other organization provides.
The young School students were curious to know about how to get in the Army and various career options with Indian Armed Forces. Students were astonished to note that now many options are available which includes two broad ways; a permanent commission is for those who want to make a career in the army until retirement, while a short-service commission allows you to join on a five-year contractual basis, after which you can exercise the option to continue or not. And students can opt through either NDA (National Defence Academy), Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE), University Entry Scheme, There is an another option for 10+2 PCM (Tech) candidates through which one can enter directly to Indian Military Academy, Medical graduates from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune are directly inducted as permanent Commissioned Medical officers in the Armed Forces etc.
Parmod Sharma, Coordinator, Yuvsatta informed that to inculcate a spirit of pride, patriotism, service and love for motherland there NGO is regularly organizing such events of bringing young ones closer to Indian Army.
In the end, RD Singh, Principal New Public School presented a vote of thanks and informed students that a career in the Indian Army offers a golden opportunity to be a part of the world’s finest Army and get trained not only to be an Officer but also a Gentleman for life.
Peace & Army are contradictory. Why would any Army ever want sustainable Peace? Stupid, you! You don’t want to give up attractive pay and perks and comforts enumerated by the Lt. Col. RK Singh. Yuvsatta’s initiative of School Peace Clubs a recruiting channel for Indian Army? Pramod, what are you up to?
