S.P.Pandey,Chandigarh, April 16 : BJP candidate for Chandigarh Lok Sabha Constituency Mr Satya Pal Jain today held Congress leaders including the local MP responsible for the ongoing auto-rickshaw strike in Chandigarh Panchkula Mohali and said those who talk of development have neglected the need of good transport policies in the tri-city. He said the anti people policies of the Congress party and Congress leadership are responsible for the ongoing auto strike which has caused a great deal of harassment to the people, especially the school going children and office-goers.
During his padyatras in Maloya and Sector 20 Mr Jain assured people that on coming to power in the centre BJP will ensure that CTU runs environment friendly LPG fuelled buses in the Union territory and tri-city areas. He repeated his commitment to address the long term local transport needs of Chandigarh by providing for Metro, flyovers and underpasses for smooth flow of traffic and more parking facilities for the large and growing number of vehicles in the city.
He said Congress party and its leadership has been a failure on every front during its five years rule at the centre. Referring to the problems faced by Chandigarh Mr Jain said all promises of Congress party candidate during the last Lok Sabha elections remain unfulfilled. Whether it is the Balanced Rent act, or ownership of type 13 houses to occupants, or proper compensation for land to the farmers, or identity cards to footpath workers, or regularisation of houses outside laldora, or regularisation of need based internal changes in the housing board houses, or provision of affordable houses to middle and lower classes in the city or solving problems of rehabilitation colonies ? the Congress MP has not been able to solve any problem.
Mr Jain said having failed on each and every front despite all levers of power being in the hands of Congress party that party has lost the moral right to seek votes of Chandigarh citizens but the Party MP is still handing out assurances as if his fighting elections for the first time though he has been in the Parliament for over 15 years.
During his Padyatra of Maloya Colony Mr Jain went from house to house seeking support of the people. He was profusely garlanded and offered full support by colony residents. Later he went for Padyatra of Sector 31 and Sector 20 Market. He addressed several small and big public meeting in Bhaskar Colony Sector 25, Sector 47 and Colony number 4. During his various meeting he attacked Congress party of making false promises and trying to befool people and said people are not likely to fall in to Congress trap this time as they have seen through the Congress game. This, he said, is clear from the ever growing support to the BJP that the people have decided to give a crushing defeat to Congress as the Congress leaders are drunk on power and money.
Prominent among those who participated in the padyatras were M/s Sanjay Tandon, Kailash Jain, Prem Kaushik, R N Dwivedi, Sanjay Behari, Narendrer Chaudhary, Gurinder Kaushik, Santosh Mishra, Dr Vikram Yadav, Arvind Rana, Agam janda, Amit Rana, Santlal, Madan Pal Parmar, Rajesh Kalia and Mamchand Rana.
