Camphor Eco-Club of the Government Model Senior Secondary School, 35-D, Chandigarh, organized Anti –Crackers Rally and Painting completion on 24-10-2008 from the school premises. 100 Eco-Club members with placards in their hands giving the message that we should not burst crackers on the occasion of celebration of Diwali, other festivals and special days for the preservation and protection of our environment.
Earlier Dr. S. K. Sharma, president, Environment Society of India, Chandigarh, flagged off the Rally for the spread of awareness among the common people of sector 35-D.He said that in this way we can save our money and environment for the welfare of present and future generation.
School principal Mrs. Raviraj Kaur said that bursting of crackers are dangerous for all human beings and other living organism. She said that being the agents of change, students can play important role for creating pollution free environment.
N.G.C. Master Trainer of Chandigarh Schools, Mr. Om Parkash said that bursting of crackers is polluting gaseous constituents of atmosphere. He also said that by stopping bursting of crackers, we not only protect and conserve our environment but also save our tiny tots from different type of injuries.
A painting competition was also organized to create the awareness among the student against the negative effects of the Crackers. Mrs. Seema, Mr. Harbans Singh, Mrs. Devinder Kaur and Mrs. Harjot Kaur also expressed their view on the above subject besides a student Piyush Bhatia of class X.
