Chandigarh, December 01, 2012 : Information & Broadcasting Minister Sh Manish Tewari has congratulated Sh Gurvinder Singh, the debutant director of Punjabi film ‘Anhey Ghorey Da Daan – Alms for the Blind Horse’ for bagging the coveted Golden Peacock Award at the 43rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2012 in Panaji yesterday. Based on the Punjabi novel by Gurdial Singh, the film depicts the plight and problems of Indian farmers and landlords. The award consists of a golden peacock, a citation and Rs 20 lakh cash.
In his message Sh Tewari has said: “Your success will spur the growth of Punjabi cinema and will encourage young directors to direct films that reflect the concerns of the society at large. Your achievement is an important milestone for the growth of regional cinema in the country.”
