Barinder Saluja, Chandigarh,Sept. 29 : Under the Banner of World Tourism Day being celebrated in the City Beautiful, today was the day of a comedy with a zzing, named “All is Well with Shutarmurg”. This play is a satire written in 1968, was adapted in the present days by writer Gyandev Agnihotri and Directed by Ramesh Talwar. The play was performed by the IPTA Theater group which was formed in 1942. Very popular bollywood actors like Rakesh Bedi, Avtar Gill, Bharat Kapoor, Asif Sheikh, Jaspaul Sandhu, Manju Sharma, Prashant Padale, Vighnesh Sinkar acted in this play.
This play, which is a satire about the working of our system relating to the rulers and a common man. Through this play the writer has tried to relate the problems of a common man with, how does a ruler handles them politically with the help of his ministers. It is a comedy which revolves around a King, his Queen, his Ministers and common man telling, a common man – Who He Is ? & What is his existence? It was a hilarious play with a mixture of dialogues in English & Hindi. The role of the King was played by Asif Sheikh, Queen – Manju Sharma, while Rakesh Bedi – Media Minister, Bharat Kapoor – Maha Mantri, Jaspaul Sandhu – Raksha Mantri, Avtar Gill – Local Janta Leader, Prashant Padale – Janta.
This play was exact replica of what is happening in our society & political system these days. It perfectly depicted that how big ministers lure a local social worker who is leader of opposition or representing protesters, into their ruling party by offering him a post in ministry which forces the opposition leader to betray the “Janta”. And when janta questions their leader that what the result is, he further tries to use the same tactic to wash away his hands from the public. The dialogues written for this play were out of the world & full of comedy which tikkled the bellies of the audience though out the play. As the play progressed, the interest kept on building step by step towards the anxiety of the watcher that what next is going to come up. The acting of the entire team was outstanding & mind blowing.
The Play was staged at the Tagore Theater in Chandigarh where Advisor to the UT Administrator Sr. Pardeep Mehra, Ut Home Secretary Sh. Ram Niwas, Chief Justice of Punjab & Haryana High court Mr. Mukul Mudgal and other office bearers of the administration were present. The Play was Directed by famous Director Ramesh Talwar, written by Gyandev Agnihotri, Music by Kuldip Singh & Design by M S Sathyu. All in All it was a jam packed with audience who applauded and thoroughly enjoyed the every dialogue of this play.
