13 Feb : Mr. A.K. Sharma, Superintendent of Central Excise Commissionerate, Ludhiana has been elected as president with massive mandate of 87% of polled votes defeating Mr. R.K. Nayyar, Superintendent, Central Excise Commissionerate, Chandigarh.
Elections of Customs and Central Excise Gazetted Executive Officers Association, Chandigarh Zone comprising the states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Chandigarh were held on Februry 11.
Mr A.K. Sharma is also associated with various religious, social and sports organizations. He is the senior vice president of Throw Ball Federation of India, senior vice president of Fencing Association, Punjab, and president of District Fencing Association, Ludhiana, District President of Kho Kho Association of Ludhiana, chief patron of Twenty-20 Cricket Association of Ludhiana and chairman of Shree Dham Dandi Swami Dharam Sangh Sanskrit Mahavidalaya, Ludhiana.
Mr. Boota Singh of Customs Commissionerate, Amritsar has been elected as General Secretary of the association defeating Mr R.S. Maan, Superintendent, Central Excise Commissionerate, Ludhiana.
Mr G.S. Kaushal, Superintendent, has also been elected un-opposed as a treasurer of the association.
