CHANDIGARH, JULY 17:It will be an all-Chandigarh affair in the boys under-18 singles final as strong contender unseeded Ajay Yadav faces sixth seed Akshat Joshi tomorrow for the title in the AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament at the CLTA Stadium in Sector 10 here.
Giant-killer Ajay Yadav maintained his winning spree after racing to an impressive 6-1, 6-1 verdict against lucky loser Bramjot Singh of Delhi in the first semi-final match. Spirited Akshat Joshi stormed into final with a straight set 6-4, 7-5 triumph against second seed Himanshu Mali of Delhi in the second semi-final. Both Chandigarh players are talented and enthusiastic.A keen tussle is on the cards in the title-clash match.
The girls Under-18 final will also witness a clash between local girls, inform Prabhamrit Kaur Sandhu and Mehak Singh. Showing her talent, wild card Prabhamrit Kaur Sandhu, who had ousted top seed Bhoomi Parmar of Gujarat in the first-round, majestically marched into the final. The scorecard 6-0, 6-1 against fifth seed Monica Sant of Delhi in the semi-final, proves that Prabhamrit is in top form as she had ruthlessly demolished her opponents on way to final. Mehak upset second seed Nehal Sahni by 6-0, 6-1 in the second semi-final.
Nehal, however, moved ahead in the final of girls under-14 singles. The top seed from Delhi dropped just one game in two sets (6-1, 6-0) against fourth seed Charvi Saxena of Chandigarh in the first semi-final.
Nehal will now face local favourite Nikita in the final tomorrow. Nikita ousted Disha Dang of Delhi in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
Unseeded Fatehdeep Singh of Punjab will lock horns with sixth seed Trivesh Singh of Delhi in the boys under-14 final. Fatehdeep Singh caused a mild upset as he defeated fifth seed Mandeep Kumar of Chandigarh 6-2, 6-3 in the first semi-final. Trivesh also emerged winner with an identical score of 6-2, 6-3 against unseeded Uday Singh Mann in the second semi-final.
