Dr Avnish Jolly, 3 June:Almost 33,000 people die in criminal acts, but nearly 1 Lac die on the roads. In the road accidents, no one intends to kill, but yet it still happens so it demands more attention. In the past couple months, there have been 3 incidents where school buses have killed or injured students in Chandigarh. Arrive Safe and AIESEC organized joint press conference at Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh for the advocacy on road safety.
Harman Singh Sidhu, Arrive Safe stressed just painting buses yellow is not going to help, the community, schools, administration and corporate sector should take responsibility and collaborate to make road safety a top priority and shared ArriveSafe has been developing educational content and software to improve enforcement. Our efforts have been covered by BBC once again last month & it would be aired again on BBC World some time in June. It’s really encouraging for me to know that my efforts have beaconed AIESEC.
On this occasion in the advocacy meeting representatives of AIESEC Cynthia Wong, United States, Natasa Plulikova Slovakia, and Akash Deep Chandigarh participated in the press conference. Akash promises that all AIESEC members will follow traffic rules and the largest student organization lies in its 23,000 students in over 100 countries actively addressing the global issues of today’s society and AIESEC is breaking new ground by getting into the issue of road safety.
