Chandigarh, 31 July, 2010: A convention of All India Centre of Trade Unions (AICTU) held here in Chandigarh at Kisaan Bhawan sector 35 under the president ship of Com. Mukhtar Masih president of local unit of AICTU. A large number of Industrial workers, agricultural labourers, employees and farmers participated in the convention. The convention was held to chalk out future course of action regarding continuous price rise of daily commodities.
Com. Malkiat Singh, all India secretary of AICTU moved a resolution regarding existing situation due to price rise and to adopt future course of action. Representatives of workers, farmers, employees and some intellectual personalities expressed their views on the resolution during the discussion, before its adoption. In the resolution, it has been mentioned that the present Congress lead UPA govt is run by market manipulators who can manipulate the market by making changes in the market within hours according to their own wishes. The price rise is now a major concern of the people of India. The resolution calls for all trade unions to launch a united struggle against the price rise as its worst effect is being noted among the working class of India. It also calls the people to agitate to get change basic policies of Govt such as to end Privatization, to end Future Trading in food commodities, coming out of World Trade Organization. The resolution also stressed on the need of nationalization of economic institutions and giving relief in the taxes and to adopt firm measures against hoarders and black marketers besides to improve distribution and storage system.
