Chandigarh : Member of Parliament, Chandigarh Smt. Kirron Kher called upon a review meeting regarding Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Scheme for food grains with the officers of the Department of Food & Supplies and Consumer Affairs & Legal Metrology, U.T., Chandigarh. This scheme is the most prestigious reforms scheme for PDS implemented by the Govt. of India to make transparency and direct release of subsidy amount in the form of cash into aadhar seeded bank accounts of the beneficiaries in lieu of foodgrains. Smt. Kher has suggested to increase the coverage of the DBT Scheme in U.T., Chandigarh. It had been desired to add more beneficiaries under the DBT scheme so that every needy individual may get benefit of the scheme launched by the Govt. of India. She also suggested that the process for the acceptance of forms for the registration under DBT shall be more simplified and to strengthen the network for the acceptance of forms through designated e-Sampark/Jansampark/Gramsampark Centres be done.
The officers of the department were suggested to come up with the problems being faced by them in respect to DBT Scheme for foodgrains. She desired that a review meeting of the scheme must be organized every month, so that the public grievances may be sorted out and the scheme could be implemented in true manner for the welfare of the poor people.
Smt. Kirron Kher today also listened to problems of residents of city at her office in Sector-8. Residents of various sectors met Smt..Kher and submitted a memorandum to her regarding their problems. She gave a personal hearing to every person and patiently listened to their problems and assured them that it will be taken up with concerned department of UT administration. She reviewed the progress of works being carried out in her adopted village Sarangpur. Sarpanch of Saranpur Sadhu Singh and other residents of Sarangpur apprised her with various problems faced by the residents of Saranpur. Some of the residents met Smt. Kher and demanded that policy for starting E-Rickshraw should me made and E Rickshaw should be started in Chandigarh for the benefit of people at the earliest. Mr. SC Gupta of Sector-15 met Smt. Kher and demanded that Bio metric attendance system should be started in Government Schools.
