Chandigarh, October 10 : Haryana Olympic Association president Khel Rattan Abhey Singh Chautala was today re-elected vice president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) for the fifth successive term in a row in the annual general body meeting held in Pune.
Suresh Kalmadi was also re-elected IOA President for the fourth successive term. All were elected unanimously. Archery Federation of India president V K Malhotra has been re-elected senior vice-president, while Raja Randhir Singh and A.K. Mattoo have been re-elected as general secretary and treasurer, respectively. Jagdish Tytler, R.L Anand and Tarlochan Singh were also elected Vice Presidents. Anurag Dhumal was elected Joint Secretary.
The apex sports body of the country Indian Olympic Association also reiterated its earlier stand that the Haryana Olympic Association, headed by Abhey Singh Chautala, is the legal HOA. Earlier also, IOA had recognised the Chautala Group as the sole authority on managing the sports activities in Haryana. A formal resolution was adopted and passed unanimously by the IOA in its executive as well as annual general body meeting held at the Olympic Bhawan in New Delhi.
The IOA strongly condemned the Haryana Government’s attempt to interfere and to undermine the autonomy of HOA. IOA today also appointed a three member committee headed by Sh. R.K. Anand to meet Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and persuade him not to interfere in the sports bodies.
Table Tennis Federation of India president and Rajya Sabha MP Mr Ajay Singh Chautala and Haryana INLD president Ashok Arora have congratulated the Mr Abhey Singh Chautala and Tarlochan Singh on their election on the IOA panel.
