Chandigarh: Nine Congress MLAs today asked the Shiromani Akali Dal-Badal president Sukhbir Badal not to get so much frustrated so soon. They asked him not to betray his frustration over the massive support, the former Chief Minister and the Chairman of the Campaign Committee, Capt Amarinder Singh has been drawing from the masses all over Punjab.
The MLAs told Sukhbir, "it is just the beginning you better spare your frustration for future when you would be swept off Punjab after the parliamentary elections". Abbi to ibtidai ishq hai rota hai kya, aagay aagay dekhiye hota hai kya, they remarked.
Reacting to the statement of Sukhbir Badal that Capt Amarinder was feeling frustrated and needed "psychiatric treatment", the MLAs remarked, it is too obvious from his (Sukhbir’s) statement who needs the treatment the most. They said, the way Capt Amarinder has been drawing mass support from all over Punjab has unnerved the Akalis in general and Sukhbir Badal in particular and he has started having the nightmares well ahead of the parliamentary elections.
They regretted that Sukhbir despite being thrust as the president of the Shiromani Akali Dal had not been able to come of age. They regretted that the president of the SAD should issue such statements that would ideally not be issued even by a village sarpanch. However, they added, this was not at all surprising as Sukhbir has not been able to get rid off his innate mindset that lacks maturity and decency that usually comes with experience and hardwork and Sukhbir has had none.
Ridiculing the claims of Sukhbir that the SAD-BJP alliance will win all the 13 seats in the forthcoming parliamentary elections, the Congress MLAs said, Sukhbir was living in a fool’s paradise. He apparently feels that he can repeat the mass rigging his government committed during the panchayat elections. But he must realize that the parliamentary elections are conducted under the direct supervision of the Election Commission of India and not his administration so that he could manipulate it.
The Congress MLAs pointed out, it is not only the Congress which has been accusing his party of having committed excesses and atrocities during the panchayat and local bodies elections, even his alliance partner, the BJP has still been crying hoarse over the rigging in the elections.
The Congress MLAs said, the way Capt Amarinder was accorded tumultuous reception at scores of places on his way from Chandigarh to Ludhiana and then to Baba Bakala on Saturday had unnerved the Akalis. It is Sukhbir who seems to have started being haunted by the nightmares and hallucinations of the public reprisal in the parliamentary elections under the leadership of Capt Amarinder Singh. "Sukhbir seems to be attributing his own fears, nightmares and hallucinations to Capt Amarinder Singh", they remarked, while adding, the whole of Punjab knows that who can be haunted and hallucinated, not at least Capt Amarinder.
The MLAs who issued the joint statement included Ajaib Singh Bhatti, Gurpreet Singh Kangar, Joginder Singh Panjgrayan, Ajit Inder Singh Mofar, Makhan Singh, Naresh Kataria, Sukh Sarkaria, Mangat Rai Bansal and Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu.
