Dr. Avnish jolly, Chandigarh, 18th October, 2008 :To celebrate the joy of festival season, children of a local N G O Theatre Age presented a cultural programme on Saturday evening at Govt. High School, Sector-24-A, Chandigarh. The show was sponsored by the Deptt. Of Public Relations and Cultural Affairs ,Chandigarh Administration.
The programme was aimed at creating awareness about various critical social issues like national integration, communal harmony, perils of polythene and horrors of drug addiction. The evening opened up on a note of national integration by an impressive musical ballad—Vande Matram. It was followed by short play highlighting the message of communal harmony. A foot thumping medley of popular filmy songs compelled the audience to leave their seats to join the dancing children. A handicapped boy, Raj Machal presented a hilarious mimicry of film actors. Two other short musical plays conveyed the message of keeping away from polythene and drugs. The programme succeeded in receiving wide applause from the audience. The Inmates of local branch of Pingal Wara movement were also present as special guests. All the items were enacted by the children of TheatreAge. Performance by Raman, Anup, Sahil, Ashish, Rohit, Rahul and Nitish were particularly appreciable. The show was directed by Zulfiqar Khan, President, TheatreAge and choreographed by Vinod Azad of Drona Academy.
