CHANDIGARH–May 6, 2008:Forty-six lecturers from different colleges and universities of the country gathered together to attend the 4-week long 78thOrientation Programme organized by the Academic Staff College, Panjab University. Prof. R.C. Sobti, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University inaugurated the programme and on the occasion highlighted the significance and relevance of such training programmes. Students’ mindset is changing, demands are changing, needs are changing but teachers are not changing.Teachers have to align themselves to the new changes so as to be empowered to handle the challenging situation. He said that the topmost need of today’s situation is to understand the psyche of the student and need to know the root cause of volatility in the minds of today’s students.Prof. Naval Kishore, Dean Student Welfare also attended the inaugural ceremony. Prof. S.K. Sharma, Director, Academic Staff College, briefed the participants regarding the rules and regulations of UGC and assured the participants of the quality of the training programmes.
