S.P.Pandey, Chd, 16 Apr : The RJD today became richer in support with the Senior Congress leader Mr.Ashwani Kumar, General Secretary of the Chandigarh District Congress Committee (Urban), Mr Harbans Singh, General Secretary of the Chandigarh State Youth congress and Mr Jaswinder Singh, a senior Youth Congress leader of UT along with their 750 active workers joining the party.
The RJD announced this at a hurriedly arranged press conference at the residence of Mr Ravinder Krishan, Advocate and President of the UT Rashtriya Janata Dal. He also announced expulsion of Ms Ranjana Tiwari, Secretary of the party for her involvement in the anti-party activities.
Welcoming the move, the President said that the Congress leaders and their workers felt “suffocated and ignored” by the top leadership of the UT Congress. “All of them along with their friends and family members, would work actively for the victory of Haffiz Anwar-ul-Haq in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections”, announced the President.
The RJD President added that hundreds of local Congress workers have already deserted the Congress in the past few weeks because they felt frustrated in it. “There was no proper co-ordination between the leadership and rank and file of the Congress at the local level and they had no say in the top leadership of the party”, the President remarked.
Mr Ashwani Kumar announced that he had full faith in the secular leadership of Mr Laloo Prasad Yadav at the national level and Mr Ravinder Krishan at the State level and in the policies of the RJD.
Mr Krishan & Haffiz Anwar-ul-Haq warmly welcomed the new entrants in the RJD and said they would be given full honour in the party; encouraged and heard at all levels, so that they could contribute to the society and help all the poor and needy in the city and adjoining areas.
Mr Krishan urged them to work for all sections of the society including tenants, house-owners and small traders to solve all their problems.
Mr Anwar alias Guruji, the candidate of RJD from Chandigarh, inaugurated his new offices at Bapudham Colony Phase-III and Gurudwara Vishwakarma Sabha-sec-30. Thereafter, he addressed a public meeting and assured the residents of colony to provide better facilities and quality education system for them.
