By Ramesh K Dhiman ,Chandigarh, January 23 – The 10th edition of the National Theatre for Theatre (TFT) festival will kick off from January 24, at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16, Chandigarh, as per the TFT communique released to the press here on Wednesday. The six-day festival will roll out a rich repertoire of emotive plays penned by prominent playwrights.
The 6-day event will go to a stupendous start with the staging of a popular play ‘Karan Bharam’ on day one. Written by Mahakavi Bhas and directed by Sharad Sharma, the play will be performed by professional artistes from the Abhinav Rangmandal, Ujjain, followed by another theme play ‘Maithali Nari Chaar Rang’, written by Rajkamal Choudhary and directed by Dr Ankur, which will be presented by the Sambhav Arts Group from New Delhi, on day two of the festival.
The popular play ‘Sandhya Chhaya’, written by Jaywant Dalwi, will be staged by the Theatre for Theatre (Chandigarh) artistes under the immaculate direction of Sudesh Sharma, on third day, while day four will witness the SD Saxena-written play ‘Bakri’. The play has been directed by Dr Umendra Kumar and will be staged by the artistes from the Kanpur-based Anukrit Rangmandal
‘Sonata’, written by Mahesh El Kunchawar, will be performed by artistes from the Aakar Kala Sangam, New Delhi, under the direction of Suman Vaidya on the penultimate day, while ‘Aadhe Adhure’, written by Mohan Rakesh, will wrap up the cultural bonanza on the concluding day. The play is directed by Sabir Khan and will be performed by the Jaipur-based Sarthak Theatre Group.
