Chandigarh, May 3rd: To celebrate the Government Museum and Art Gallery’s 46th anniversary, the Museum is organizing “Treasure Hunt” from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm on 6th May 2014 on its premises . The Treasure hunt is open to all above 12 years of age. As a part of celebrations, special Films will be showcased in Museum auditorium from10:30 am to 1:00 pm. The Government Museum and Art Gallery at Chandigarh has a distinct position amongst other Museum in India and it houses larger Gandharan exhibits in the Country, also the Museum showcases the Harappa relics excavated in 60’s from the heart of the City. The City Museum tracks the evolution of Chandigarh since its concept in the late 40’s. According to Director, Government Museum and Art Gallery, Ms Amandeep Kaur, PCS “The treasure hunt shall incorporate all such interesting features which will not only be knowledgeable but also entertaining”. Further she stated that the Govt Museum is an attraction in view of the fact that Le Corbusier himself designed it. The Museum was inaugurated on the 6th May, 1968.
