CHANDIGARH, OCT 2 :The Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Table Soccer National Championship is going to be organized at DAV Model School in Sector 15 from October 3 to 5. More than 400 players from 14 States will participate in the three-day championship.
States taking part in the three-day Nationals are Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Pudicherry, Goa, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand.
According to Table Soccer Federation of India president Balwinder Johal all arrangements have been completed to conduct the Nationals. The TSFI has allotted practice slot to the teams.
It may be recalled that the Chandigarh Education Department has recently included table soccer in is sports activities.
ONGC I-League matches in Ludhiana
Jagatjit and Cotton Textile Mills will play two home matches in the ongoing ONGC I-League 2008-9 at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana, according to Punjab Football Association secretary Arjuna awardee Inder Singh.
JCT play Mohammedan Sporting Club of Kolkata on October 11 and Mahindra United of Mumbai on October 18. The match will start at 3.30 p.m.
UT women football meets
The Chandigarh Football Association is conducting the State Senior Women Football Championship from October 18 at the Sector 17 Football Stadium. According to CFA general secretary Rakesh Bakshi, invitation letters to send their entries have been sent to all schools, colleges and other institutions.
The association will also organise the Chandigarh Girls Sub-Junior Football Championship from October 6 at the Sector 17 Stadium. The association has also requested the Chandigarh Sports Council to give final assistance for conducting the state championship.
Under-14 Cricket Tournament
DP Azad Cricket Academy and Guru Nanak Public School Academy are jointly organising the Under-14 League-cum-knockout Cricket Tournament starting from October 5. Giving this information here today, Dronacharya Desh Prem Azad said that matches would be played at different venues.
The league matches, which will begin at 8.30 a.m. will be of 30 overs each side and final will of 40-over each side. In the four-team round robin league, the best two teams will qualify for final.
The cut of date is July 1, 1994.
Teams taking part are DP Azad Academy, Guru Nanak Public School Academy, Sector 36, Sector 16 Cricket Stadium and MCM Blues, Sector 36.
Chandigarh road cycling races
The Chandigarh Amateur Cycling Association is conducting Chandigarh Road Cycling Races for seniors, junior and sub-junior (boys & girls) on October 6 at Lake Club starting at 6.00 a.m. Competitons will be held for seniors above 17 (20 km mass start for boys and 10k for girls), sub juniors 15 to 17 years (10 km mass start for boys and girls and sub-junior under-15 (5 k.m mass start for boys and girsl).
The students interested to take part in the races may report with their date of birth certificate on October 6 at 6.00 a,m. During the competitions cyclists will be selected to represent Chandigarh for participation in the 14th Road Cycling National Championships to be held at Bijapur, Karnataka from October 16-21, 2008.
