Dr. Avnish Jolly,Chandigarh, July 26 :Chandigarh based Prime Diagnostic Centre and Heart Institute, has acquired a 3D echocardiography machine for highly improved diagnosis of heart diseases or other abnormalities in the cardiovascular system.
Dr. U.P. Singh, DM Cardiology who established the hi-end diagnostic centre way back in 2000, said that the Rs.50 lakh Philips iE33 System is one of the most advanced cardiac ultrasound imaging system in the world and one of its kind in the entire northern region, since only a few installations have taken place in the country so far.
Echocardiography uses ultrasound waves to produce images of the heart and its motion that are ultimately used by the doctors to plan appropriate course of therapy for a cardiac patient, and through Live 3D echo, the doctor can see the heart from any angle and even go within the heart, slice by slice, and examine the problem with much more precision, Dr. U.P. Singh explained.
This machine also incorporates besides 3D Echo, Tissue Doppler, Strain-rate quantification, and myocardial contrast perfusion studies, he said.
3D echocardiography system provides amazing image clarity comparable to what a surgeon would find on the operating table. This would certainly go a long way in improving diagnosis and better planning in the surgical or non-invasive methods of treating cardiac patients.
Prime Diagnostics and Heart Institute is managed by the doctor couple with Dr. U.P. Singh as cardiology, and Dr. Ladbans Kaur, as radiology specialists.
The radiology section headed by Dr. Ladbans Kaur is also equiped with another 3D ultrasound machine, Voluson Expert from GE USA which is very helpful in early diagnosis of any congenital abnormality of the foetus in pregnanet women.
