Chandigarh: Sanjay Pahwa: Students and staff of St. Xavier`s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44-C, Chandigarh, celebrated their “27th Founder`s Day” with great vehemence.
The Program began with the “Welcome Speech” by the Principal Mr. Mervin West. He welcomed all the dignitaries present on the occasion. “Apart from academics, the excellence in extra curricular activities also plays a vital role in complete development of a student”, said Mr. West
As customary, to seek the blessings of almighty, a “Prayer Dance” was presented by the students of classes 8th & 10th.
To revere the “26th Founder`s Day”, Mr. Andrew J Gosain, The Chairman, St. Xavier`s Group of Schools cut the cake, while the school choir wished “Happy Birth Day to Sir”, as a musical salutation.
The tiny tots of nursery and K.G. dressed as professional footballers refreshed the memories of Soccer World Cup, as they danced to the tune of “Waka-Waka” a famous number of Shakira,
A Punjabi skit written by Ritu Rag, a student of class 9th on Drug Abuse was enacted by students of classes 9th & 10th comically, but effectively conveyed the intended message.
A hilarious dance with stunts “Aashke”, was presented by little champs of classes 1 & 2 compelled the audience to tap their feet.
“Elocution”, Poem recital by the students of classes 4th & 5th, was so cute and innocent that it mesmerized the audience.
“The Pirates”, a dance performed by the students of class 3rd, was a dance with a difference and had thunderous applause from the audience. It depicted the fight between the Sea goddesses (Girls) and Pirates (Boys), which is finally won by the Sea goddesses.
“Fashion Show – With a Twist”, where The Students of Classes 8th, dressed as various “Polluting Elements” of the environment, conveyed a meaningful message and left a impeccable mark on the audience.
A sufiana song “Dam-a-dam Mast Kalandar” ,presented by the students of Classes 6th to 10th made everyone “mast” literally.
An emotive “Ballet Dance” ,by students of classes 6th and 7th transported every one to the world of Ballerinas.
The Choir Members Sang and Danced on Various Hip Hop Tracks Choreographed by our own student Joan of class 8th
The unique “Break & Spring Dance”, by senior students of classes 11th & 12th, where in the boys took us to the mechanical world of robots and girls depicted the minutiae of dainty & poised dance.
The show was anchored by Itee & Ronald very aptly.
