CHANDIGARH, SEPT 5 :More than 200 students from 10 schools and seven districts are taking part in the Haryana State Table Soccer Championship which commenced at St Teresa Convent School in Sector 25 in Panchkula, near here today.
Vice President Sanjeev Chopra inaugurated the tournament. Table Soccer Federation president Balwinder Singh Johal was present on the occasion. The prizes distribution function will be held tomorrow.
Sahil Gupta won the boys under-14 singles title while Ishal Duggal finished runner-up. Aditya Sindal got the third position.
Results: Under-10 doubles: 1 Charanpreet and Adita, 2 Akash and Amulya, 3 Tushar and Rahul. Under-10 girls (doubles): 1 Ridhima Aggarwal and Prajita, 2 Aina Dhingra and Varsha, 3 Anchal Sharma and Alisha.
Under-14 (singles): 1 Sahil Gupta, 2 Ishan Duggal, 3 Aditya Sindal.
TEACHER’S DAY: Meanwhile, the Teacher’s Day was celebrated by the students. They prepared cards for their teachers. Some students sang songs based on great teacher Dr. Radha Krishan. A speech competition was held and students participated in it with great zeal and enthusiasm.
Tiny tots performed a play on Guru shishay prampra in the assembly. They explained the meaning of great teachers. The students taught in the classes and managed the school. Tilak ceremony was held by the Montessori students. They applied tilak on the forehead of Principal Amit Chopra and wished him Happy Teacher’s Day.
