26 Sep :University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS) and University Law Students’ Association, Panjab University is organizing a national level seminar on ‘Law and Technology’ on 27th and 28th, September, 2008 in association with Asia Pacific Jurist Association and Department of Technology, U.T. Chandigarh.
Honorable Mr. Justice Surya Kant of Punjab and Haryana High Court would be the Chief Guest at the inaugural function of the seminar. Dr. Gurjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala would be blessing the occasion by delivering the key-note address. The souvenirs would be released by Mr. M.S. Brar, Director, Information Technology Department, Chandigarh. Prof. R.C. Sobti, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University would be gracing the occasion by his presence. In addition to this many sitting judges of the Panjab and Haryana High Court, legal luminaries, senior advocates and prominent personalities of the corporate sector would chair various technical sessions of the seminar.
One hundred and forty law students from twenty prestigious universities across the country would be participating and exchanging their ideas under one roof. As the theme “Law and Technology” suggests, the focus of discussion would be the development of the technology and the need for laws to cope up with it. Four contemporary relevant themes including, Information Technology, Intellectual Property Rights, Biotechnology and Crime and Forensic Sciences shall also be discussed under the guidance of legal experts of the highest repute. According to Prof. R.S. Grewal, Director of UILS Department, “The participants would have an intellectual feast. During the seminar the participants would be interacting with each other, sharing and exchanging information and ideas which would help them to keep in touch with each other throughout their career.”
