Chandigarh, 6 April 2008 : More Than 12000 aspirants today appeared for the Central Board of Secondary Education PMT (Pre) Entrance examination held at over 20 centres in the city.Student from all parts of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh reached the city as early as Saturday and lodged themselves in various dharamshalas, hostels and hotels.
Anxiety was writ large on the faces of students and parents accompanying them to the centres.Nitin a student who appeared for the exam last year also said he felt comfortable this year as his preparation was more co-coordinated and consistent.
Shifali Mahajan another student, said the question Paper was balanced and his competition-oriented approach towards preparation helped her a lot. Dhruv a student from Chandigarh who has been in the city for the past two year preparing for the entrance as well as for board exams, said the questions were from the assignments and tests that he has had till now. He felt that there were many good centres here in the city to prepare students for the entrance exam than those in the peripheral areas of Punjab. He opted to prepare for the exam in the city and this he hopes would yield fruit.
The question paper for this examination is multiple choice type, consisting of two hundred questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects. The duration of the examination is 3 hours. Each question carries 3 marks and for any wrong answer one mark is deducted from the total marks scored. On an average, scoring 50 % marks and above in this examination is considered to be a ‘ safe score ‘ to qualify the prelims. Those who qualify the prelims shall have to face the mains examination which is subjective in nature. This examination is scheduled to be held on 13th May.
