Mandeep Puri : The total coverage of children between age group of 0-5 years for Pulse Polio Immunization in the city has gone to 1,03,899 in two days. The coverage of today was 33065, owing to the house to house activity being conducted by the Health teams comprising of health officials, students, teachers and volunteers from all sections of society coming forward to contribute to the cause of eradication of Polio. The deputed teams visited all the houses covering the children who could not be vaccinated due to the unfavorable climatic conditions prevailing in the city. Health Department appreciates the co-operation extended by the residents to the visiting teams by getting their children immunized and appeals to the residents of the areas to be covered tomorrow to co-operate too.
As many as 70294 children in the above mentioned age group were immunized yesterday i.e. on the beginning of January Round of Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign. The campaign on the first day was conducted on the booths exclusively and today it was house to house. The house to house activity will continue for tomorrow by the deputed health teams to cover left out children.
The campaign was started successfully under the guidance of UT Home-cum-Health Secretary, Mr. Ram Niwas, Director Health & Family Welfare, Dr. M.S. Bains, Joint Director Health & Family Welfare-cum-Medical Superintendent, GMSH-16 along with their teams in various sectors, villages, colonies, slums and other areas of the city.
