The jam-packed hall of Tagore Theatre sparked with extra energy, where the Annual Show of KBDAV-7, Chandigarh – “Shooney Se Shikhar” was held with gala performances of 900 school children who reflected rich cultural heritage of India through their energetic dance performances.
Eminent educationists and notable personalities from varied fields were present to grace the occasion. Shri Punam Suri, Secretary, DAV CMC, New Delhi was the Chief Guest of the day and Shri V.K. Singh, Finance cum Education Secretary was the Guest of Honour. Mr. C.L. Kochher, Regional Director (Engg. Colleges), DAVCMC, New Delhi and Project In-charge, DAV University, Jalandhar, Mr. Braj Mohan Singh, Editor, Dainik Bhaskar, Mrs. Kiran Chadha, Fomer Joint Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Dr. Subhash Marriya, Regional Director, UP & UK Zone & Manager of the School, Mr. Yashvir, Administrator, Arya Samaj, Sector 16, Dr. Mrs. Puneet Bedi, Principal, MCM DAV College, Chandigarh, Mr. S.K. Sharma, Additional Commissioner, Excise & Taxation, Haryana, Mr. D.R. Yadava, Fomer Deputy Secretary-cum-Regional Officer, CBSE, Panchkula and Mr. Arun Walia, President, Roller Skating Federation of India and Advocate General, Haryana were among other distinguished dignitaries who graced the occasion.
The grand opening of the cultural bonanza was a traditional warm welcome of the dignitaries followed by lamp lighting on Shloka Uccharan and Gayatri Mantras.
Principal Madhu Bahl addressed the gathering where the audience had an opportunity to watch the video show “Life at KBDAV-7” – depicting working of school.
The hi-point of the show was the launching of “Saral Ahsaas Magazine” at the hands of Chief Guest Shri Punam Suri, Secretary, DAV CMC, New Delhi and other dignitaries.
‘Saral Ahsaas’ – A school for underprivileged children for free education at KBDAV-7 is successfully running from past 5 years on similar pattern as rest of the school.
It was a treat for the eyes of the parents present at the show who witnessed live cultural performances of their ward performing on the stage one after another which was an amalgam of India’s rich culture.
The show started with “Ganesh Vandana” where beautiful girls attired in traditional costumes captivated the audience with their graceful and poise dance moves.
‘Nat Khat Re’ – dramatizing the mischief of Lord Krishna in Gokul during his childhood which was depicted in form of Ras Leela. ‘Yeh Samah’ students in their dance performance showed how beautiful moments can be enjoyed by everyone in any situation.
The catchy number ‘Dabang’ being imitated by every boy now-a-days was a favourite of all and the rip-roaring performance had the hall rocking throughout.
Other dance performances were the Rajasthani folk and remix of dance number captivated the audience with their electrifying performances.
Tiny tots of KG danced on the tunes of popular Popstar Shakira. ‘Vande Matram’ truly depicted the love and devotion for the country that students expressed deeply with their bodies painted tri-colour and holding national flags of India.
The complete cord of the show was the ‘Punjabi Wedding’ that indeed took the audience to the interiors of Punjab village with Giddha and Bhangra Dhol beats that made the audience tap their feet to the Punjabi tunes.
The show ended with Grand Finale where principal, staff and students together merged their dance movements with one another holding national flag and candles in their hands.
Chief Guest, Shri Punam Suri said, “It was indeed a unique cultural show watching KBDAV-7 students performing meticulously one after another.” He highly appreciated the hard work, dedication and perfection seen during the programme under the direction of Principal Madhu Bahl.
