21 Oct :The Education Department, Chandigarh Administration organized a programme on ‘Moral Values and Civic Duties’ at Govt. College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh today. The programme was presided over by Shri Ram Niwas, Home-cum-Education Secretary, Chandigarh. This was a prelude to a week long celebration on Moral Values to be conducted in all the Government Schools.
The flag bearer of this programme is His Execellency Hon’ble S.F. Rodrigues, Governor Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh who took initiative for this kind of an exercise way back in February 2008. The programme began with a welcome song presented by students of Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Sector-23, Chandigarh. A strongly worded, power packed street play ‘Chalen Kis Aur’ was presented by students of DAV School, Sector-8, Chandigarh. An august gathering of Principals, teachers, students and parents was present on the occasion. Rv. Father Sebastian administered, the pledge to follow the basic principles of morality. A small presentation on moral values was given by the Institute of Personality Aptitude testing on inculcation of moral values in this highly competitive world. A brochure on Moral Values and Civic duties in education was also released on this occasion by the Chief Guest Shri Ram Niwas. Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the Slogan Writing and Poster Making Competitions organized in different schools on the theme of Moral values. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest, Shri Ram Niwas talked about the down slide in the moral fabric of the society and stressed on imparting value based education in the schools. He emphasized on the fundamental rights and duties and asked all Pincipals to create awareness about the fundamental duties among the students so that the students can adopt them and make them an integral part of their lives.
Sh Samwartak Singh DPI(S) extended vote of thanks. He highlighted the role of Principals for imbibing Moral Values among the students. The Principals and teachers must act as role model for the students. Let every Principal and teacher memorize the personality of each and every child in his/ her heart and soul with strong emotional bonding which will be first step towards imparting Moral Values and Civic Duties. Further it should be ensured by the parents, Principals and teachers to inculcate moral values and civic duties in each and every child so that every child becomes to be a good and responsible citizen of the nation.
