Chandigarh, May 17, 2009: TODAY, setting a green tone around 100 NSS students of Chitkara College of Education for Women participated in a Go Green Cycle Rally & Nature walk from Karuna Sadan, Sector 11 to Kansal Log Hut in Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary.Giving information about the initiative Mrs. Madhu Chitkara, Director of the College said that today is their inaugural programme of a 10 day long NSS Camp in which various social activities like Blood Donation Camp, Cleanliness drive at Rock Garden, Environmental & Peace Talks, film show of gandhian films will be organized in days to come.
Setting the tone of the bicycle tour she further said that “like many European cities Chandigarh is ideally suited for a happy & healthy Cycle-city. Cycling is like walking on the wheels, it is virtual music & meditation, a living course on ‘ART OF LIVING’. She said that more and more people should come forward to adopt healthy life-style of
cycling to work and place of learning.
Mr. Parmod Sharma, Coordinator of Yuvsatta, an NGO promoting cycling through its greentire programme in the city added that every cyclist is one less vehicle, one less parking space, less noise, a few less lungs full of fumes.
