30 August :In its effort to provide all possible assistance to the Bihar Government, the Centre today sent 1 Army column and 3 Army Medical teams in addition to the existing 4 Army columns. 2 more helicopters in addition to the earlier 5 helicopters have been provided. 84 more boats were sent to Bihar today in addition to the 118 boats already deployed.
1097 additional tents were dispatched today. The State Govt. has been requested to indicate their requirement of tarpaulin tents and GI sheets. More tents and boats are being organized.
On the advice of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Relief Commissioners of adjoining States of West Bengal, Jharkhand and Orissa are providing relief material like boats and tents. The Relief Commissioner of Gujarat has also offered to provide 12 motorized boats with crew to Bihar.
The National Crisis Management Committee, headed by the Cabinet Secretary reviewed the flood situation today.The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has issued instructions to supply 2 crore Halogen tablets as per the schedule given by the Govt. of Bihar
The Ministry of Water Resources has constituted a high level team to suggest remedial measures to the Bihar Government for repair and strengthening of afflux bunds of Kosi barrage and would coordinate with Nepal for early repairs. Six supervisory teams have been formed for day to day coordination between State engineers, Ganga Flood Control Commission and Indian Embassy, Katmandu for smooth working at the breached section.
