13 Apr : BJP president Rajnath Singh has said the Congress was facing "a season of divorce", while the NDA was flooded with new partners in the run up the LS polls and claimed that there was a "massive wave in favour" of the NDA which was set to come back to power.
"Congress is facing divorce (by allies), while the NDA is getting new friends", Singh said, hinting at various allies of the UPA that are not going to polls with the Congress party.
"Congress is undergoing a phase like a season of divorce. Its allies are raising eyebrows against the party, which is evident from the end of the honeymoon announced by RJD, LJP and SP in Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh", the BJP president said in Bihar on Monday.
Addressing election meetings at Mohania and Ramgarh in Bihar’s Sasaram lok sabha constituency where BJP nominee Munni Lal is locked in a straight fight with Union minister Meira Kumar, Singh said the NDA has emerged as the "largest gainer" after the schedule for the Lok Sabha polls were announced.
Singh also demanded that RJD supremo and Railway minister Lalu Prasad be booked under the National Security Act (NSA) for his alleged hate speech against BJP leader and Lok Sabha candidate from Pilibhit Varun Gandhi.
"The law of the land doesn’t permit making inflammatory speeches and Lalu Prasad has crossed all the limits," Singh said, claiming that Lalu’s threat to crush Varun under a roller was "slanderous and a fit case for application of NSA."
He, however, reiterated his defence for Varun saying "he has done nothing wrong and has become victim of circumstances under a conspiracy."Singh claimed that there was a massive wave in the favour of NDA, which was all set to "replace" the UPA government at the Centre.
