17 Nov : With the aim to promote tourism in Bihar, government has sanctioned Rs 134.87 lakh for development of three sites – Lauriya Nandan Garh, Areraj and Rampurwa – as tourist destinations in the state.The central fund would be utilised to develop amenities for tourists.
Archaeologically important, Lauriya Nandan Garh is situated about 25 km from Bettiah district in Bihar.A famous Buddhist site, Garh has a lion pillar of Ashoka.
The fund will also be utilised for the construction of signboards, lighting, boundary fencing, parks and entrance gates at the sites.
First installment of the fund amounting to Rs 107.90 lakh has already been released to Bihar to start work and the balance amount will be released after utilisation of the sanctioned amount by the state government.
