31 August :The Centre continues to extend all possible assistance to the Govt. of Bihar. 15 additional Army Columns are being deployed in addition to the existing 10 columns. 4 additional helicopters have been deployed in addition to the existing 5 helicopters.
A total of 243 boats and 686 NDRF personnel have been deployed so far. 5767 tents have been dispatched till today and additional 1922 tents are being organized. In addition to the 4 Satellite phones already provided, 10 more satellite phones are being provided.
Additional 4 lakh bottles of drinking water are being sent today by a special train. 18 MTs of Plastic sheets, having capacity to accommodate 3,000 families, have been sent.
In addition to free transportation of relief material, Ministry of Railways have taken some other steps which include nomination of four terminals at Sahrsa, Purnia, Forbes Gunj/Jogbani, Sonbarsa Kachahri for handling the relief material; running of special trains for evacuation of affected people on need basis and setting up of medical/relief camps at (i) Raghopur, (ii) Banmankhi, (iii) Madhepura, (iv) Narpat Gunj,(v)Budhma.
National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) headed by Cabinet Secretary reviewed the flood situation today.Ministry of Home Affairs is in constant touch with the State Government and closely monitoring the situation round the clock.
