June 24:In Assam, altogether fifty nine ultras belonging to ULFA, NSCN (Issac-Muivah) and NSCN (Khaplang) today laid down arms before the Army and police authorities.
Twenty six of them surrendered at Tamulpur, bordering Bhutan, in Bagcha district . They deposited a huge quantity of arms and ammunition before the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Red Horns Division Major General Chandra Prakash. Thirty two others, including 26 ULFA, four NSCN (IM) and two NSCN (Khaplang) cadres surrendered at Moriani Military Station in Jorhat district . They deposited two AK series rifles besides 13 pistols, eight rifles and four grenades before Brigadier M.J. Mathew and Upper Assam DIG of Police Mr. L.R.Bisnoi. Another ULFA militant surrendered before the Fifty Bihar Regiment of the Army at Diphu in Karbi Anglong district this morning.
