Lok Sabha member from Arunachal Pradesh Takam Sanjoy on Wednesday demanded that the Centre initiate a probe into the 30th April Pawan Hans chopper crash that killed former Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu and five others on board.
“The Centre should immediately initiate an inquiry either by CBI or National Investigating Agency (NIA) into the circumstances which led to the crash,” Sanjoy told PTI over phone from New Delhi.Sanjoy said he called on UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi at her official residence Wednesday morning and appraised the matter and requested her to initiate an inquiry by a Central agency into the crash.
He said, he would soon meet Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin to press for demand for ordering a high level probe into the matter.
“The Civil Aviation ministry should not press into service ‘flying coffins’ like Pawan Hans choppers in the entire North Eastern states keeping in view the difficult topography of the region and poor maintenance of the aircraft by the company,” he added.
Meanwhile, former Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Tako Dabi too demanded for a CBI inquiry into the crash along with the ‘mysterious circumstances’ which compelled Khandu to left Itanagar on 28th April without attending the North East Regional Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (NERCPA) conference which was attended by Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar.
