PASIGHAT, July 23: The PHENIX Achievement Awards 2011 are a series of recognition awards given by PHENIX Properties Ltd. Guwahati (Assam) which has now evolved into a credible and highly desired award in the NER. The PPL is a non-governmental organization, working for the past many years in the service of our countrymen. To promote literary, media coverage, trade & commerce and social-work activities, this year four names have been accepted by the PPL authorities from this underprivileged corner of NER to honour during the Independence Day celebration, 2011 at Pasighat. The awards recognize an individual who could set shining examples with dedication, devotion and public advocacy and their outstanding accomplishments left a lasting impression in their respective fields. The award carries a cash prize, memento, gold medal and citation. Earlier, a board was constituted by the Deputy Commissioner, East Siang District and the following names just not for a particular work but over entire services rendered by the achievers to the cause of the district, were duly recommended by a jury under the chairmanship of the Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Pasighat. 1. Shri Kaling Borang in Literature, 2. Shri H.K. Roy (IPR) in Media Coverage, 3. Shri Tapir Mengu in Trade & Commerce, 4. Smty Deepti Apang in Social Works The eminent litterateur Borang known for his outstanding contributions towards literature who wrote many books, stories, articles, poems etc in Adi, English and Assamese relating to socio-cultural aspects of the Adi tribe.
Shri Roy has been chosen for his immense contributions in the field of media coverage. His exceptional reporting on various developmental issues won the hearts of news-lovers. Shri Mengu is an Adi Self-Made Merchant who started his business by investing twenty eight thousands only six years ago. His tireless efforts made him one of the most successful and prominent businessmen in Pasighat history.
Smty Apang, wife of former Chief Minister, Gegong Apang has been spending her life with selfless and endless involvements in Socio-Cultural events of Adi community. Her remarkable leadership and creative design on traditional Adi costumes and cultural presentations in festival/events like Solung, Mopin, ABK etc made the lives better around the state. All awardees will receive and cherish the prestigious awards on the occasion of the ensuing Independence Day’11 being celebrated at the general ground on 15th August next.
