PASIGHAT, Nov 10: Devotees on Thursday (Nov 10) thronged to celebrate the 543rd Guru Nanak Jayanti which was organized by the “Sri Guru Nanak Devji Sabha” Pasighat with religious zeal at Pasighat Gurudwara. Among the Sikhs, Gurunanak Jayanti- the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of the faith- is an occasion for great rejoicing and known as Guruparabs.
The celebration was being observed for the last many days, followed by Akhand Path Madhya and Bhog, Nisan Saheb Sewa, Nagarkirtan, Prashad distribution, Prabhat Phery, Guru-Ka-Langar, Deep-mala and singing hymns of Granth Sahib. The festivities began with early morning processions ‘Prabhat Pheri’, chanting verses and singing hymns since 27th November last prior to Gurunanak Jayanti celebration. Akhand-Path Parambh and Madhya (reading of Guru-Granth-Sahib without break), Nisan Saheb Sewa, Nagarkirtan, Prashad distribution, Prabhat Phery, Guru-Ka-Langar, Deep-mala, Nagar Kirtan and Children Kirtan competition etc were the other highlights of the celebration.
The Deputy Commissioner Talem Tapok, N Kumar (SDO), Army personnel of 21 Sikh Regiment (Rayang), local officers, leaders and businessmen took part in the celebration. Meanwhile, the East Arunachal MP Ninong Ering (stationed at Dimapur, Nagaland) and former Education Minister Bosiram Siram (Itanagar) on Wednesday sent their greetings.
