PASIGHAT, April 25: The National Panchayat Day was observed on 24th April last in a befitting manner at the Conference Hall of the Zilla Chairperson, Pasighat amidst ZPMs, Govt. officers and PRI members.
The Chief Guest Smty Nilima Kumar SDO-cum-DPDO (District Panchayat Development Officer) recalled the contribution of Dr. Daying Ering in development of local self governance in the state and participation of Gram Sabhas in decision making process at the grassroots levels. She stated PRIs can play very important roles in Panchayati Raj system because they could assess the actual requirements of villages bringing social and economical developments. They play an important role in state building ensuring transparency and accountability in the functioning of government institutions and officials, Kumar further stated.The EAC Panchayat-cum-Member Secretary Starlie Jamoh suggested to avail training programs on capacity building of Panchayats and stressed on frequent interactive meetings so that they could deliver better services, more effective and efficiently.
The ZP Chairperson Smty Yiai Dabi calls for decentralization of self governance at the grass root level. In her address Dabi said Self Government has now constitutional & legal recognition and PRIs have been given special importance in implementation of various government development scheme/ programs. Their active participation is very essential, since they understand the local needs for social and economic developments of the common men in the society.
Among ZPMs, Okom Yosung (Bogong), Namukh Taloh (Bosing), Takum Tasing (Boleng) and Tonggeng Panyang (Ruksin) also spoke and shared their problems and experiences.
