The Kohima Aor Telongjem’s (Kohima Ao Union)’Molu Ki’, a multi utility building at Kohima was inaugurated by Home Minister, Imkong L. Imchen on 8th March 2012 as the Chief Guest.
Congratulating KAT and everyone involved in the construction of the building, the Chief Guest said that unity works, he said that as the convernor of the Working Committee he could see the huge determination everyone had in completing the building at the shortest possible time and every member worked hand in hand. He said that such atmosphere made the work complete sooner than expected and that everyone should draw an example from it.
Stating the Molu Ki as one of the landmark buildings in making the capital beautiful, Imchen said that every individual and tribe has the responsibility in making Kohima a landmark of Nagaland. He said that tribalism is one of the most hindering factors of development of the state and called upon the Nagas to do away with tribalism. He said Molu Ki should be a symbol where there is no room for tribalism.
Guest of Honour, Dr. S.C. Jamir said that the building is another landmark for the Ao community towards their contribution to Kohima. He said that Kohima belongs to all Nagas and therefore it is the responsibility of all to contribute for a brighter andmore beautiful Kohima. He said that feeling of unity and oneness should be there and only then can we take Kohima to greater heights. He said that the time was here now for Nagas to stand as one so as to build a united and stronger Nagaland in order to compete with the rest of the world. Congratulating the Ao’s on the contribution made to the society, he encouraged the gathering to contribute even more for a brighter, stronger and beautiful Nagaland.
Giving a brief report on the construction of Molu Ki, Commissioner & Secretary School Education, Imkonglemba IAS said that the idea of a multi purpose hall was first brought up in 2001 by the then Chief Minister, Dr. S.C. Jamir. Construction of the building commenced on 3rd June 2009 and was inaugurated on 8th March 2012 with a total cost of Rs. 1.74 Crores and stands on a total plinth area of 1192 sq meters.
ACS and Additional Development Commissioner, Alemtemshi Jamir, IAS while giving a short speech said that the name Molu Ki means a house of unlimited blessings. He added that the facilities available at Mulo Ki are not only for the Aos but for everyone. President KAT gave the welcome address while vote of thanks was proposed by General Secretary KAT.
The two storied building has a parking space for around 16 light vehicles at the ground floor. The first floor has one VIP suit and three double bed rooms with attached bathrooms. The floor also has a kitchen and a dinning room which can sit 35 to 40 persons. A hall for meetings, ceremonies etc is housed in the second floor of the building which has a capacity for around 800 persons.
After the inaugural function, the annual general meeting of KAT was also held at the newly inaugurated Molu Ki. Besides several businesses conducted, the meeting nominated a new team of office bearers to lead the Union for the term 2012 – 2014 as follows: –
