The Mechanical Engineering Department of North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) is organising in second time NABARD sponsored five days Farmers’ Training Programme on ‘Bio-diesel and its Economic Benefits’ during January 20-24, 2012 in its seminar room. It is expected that more than 25 farmer’s from Arunachal Pradesh would be participated in the five days programme.
The programme would be covered various topics like Introduction to Bio-diesel, Introduction to Jatropha, Jatropha species in India, Jatropha applications, Jatropha seedling of sapling and plantation, Jatropha diseases and control measures, Jatropha harvesting, Jatropha oil production, Bio-diesel production and engine performance, Bio-diesel handling & storing, Bio-diesel: an economic benefits and Bio-diesel marketing & trade.
Apart from this, there are intensive practical and demonstration will cover like familiarize with bio-diesel reactor, plantation of Jatropha sapling, Jatropha oil extraction from Jatropha oil seeds, preparing bio-diesel, testing of bio-diesel, Transesterification and production of bio-diesel etc. To further strengthening the programme expert are invited from M/s Smriti Hebs and Bio-fuel, Nagaon, Assam. The NERIST faculty from different department like Department of Forestry, Department of Agricultural Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Humanities & Social Sciences and Centre for Management Studies would deliver their lecture as Resource Persons.
The programme would be inaugurated by Mr. Amal Kanti Purkayastha, Director (Agri. Marketing), Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, Naharlagun as Chief Guest, where as Prof. Dipankar Pal, Director, NERIST who is also Patron of the Organising Committee would be present as Guest of Honour and NABARD officials would also be present during inauguration. The programme are Coordinated by Biplab Das and Debabrata Maji of Mechanical Engineering Department under the overall guidance and support of Chairman (Organising Committee) and Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department Dr. Asis Giri.
