PASIGHAT, Mar 12: Severe power crisis, poor maintenance, faulty and inefficient power distribution to Pasighat town is still continuing even after pride celebration 100 years, stated the Chairman, Electricity Action Committee (EAC), Pasighat Okom Yosung (ZPM Bogong) in a release today expressing his dismay. Pasighatians are reeling under the impact of frequent, unscheduled power outages has thrown normal life completely out of gear and the angry residents are planning to come out to street to register their protests against the poor management of power distribution in the town, added Yosung.The Chairman Yosung along with the members held a meeting on 2nd March last at the Siang Guest House with new measures to check power cuts in the city and finally gave 20 days time to the power department for immediate restoration and appealed to provide uninterrupted power supply to the people of Pasighat. The Committee stated the power department failed to convince the residents with their meaningless assurance and practices. People are already harassed for the last many years, several small and medium-level industries are at the brink of both closing down or migrating to other places, students attending board exams are deprived and official works tremendously hampered evening-time businesses badly affected. The EAC has seriously viewed the issue and come up with new a set of measures of complete replacement of the turbines of Yambung and Sille hydels and proposed Pasighat to connect with Rina Hydel within twenty days and a copy of the said demand/ memorandum has also been submitted to states Chief Minister and Power Minister seeking their immediate interventions, the release added.
However, criticizing the power failure despite repeated pleas the committee threatened for Pasighat Bandh call if the power supply is not restored within the given time period and appealed the state media to cooperate for the larger interest of the people of Pasighat.
