ANDHRA PRADESH : The Chief Secretary reviewed the status of H1N1 in the State along with the Health department officials, concerned other departments and representatives of Private Hospitals. It is observed that there is no need to be panic in the summer in view of high temperature, as the H1N1 virus will not be much virulent.
It is observed that there are 26 cases positive in the month of March, 2012 and one death reported. The affected people are classified into three categories: Category- A (i.e., with mild fever, cough and soar throat), Category – B (i.e., high fever, severe soar throat) patients need not be hospitalized and requires home isolation. The C- category people i.e., uncontrolled high fever with chest pain and respiratory difficulty should be hospitalized immediately and treatment should be taken. However people with diabetes, hypertension, heart-ailment, pregnant women and children irrespective of the category should take treatment with extra care.
Sufficient stocks of medicines are available in the District Hospitals with the District & Medical Health Officers and at State Head Quarters with Director of Public Health. Public Health campaign activity should be focused more in the high dense colonies and slum areas. All the referral identified hospitals like Gandhi, Osmania, and Chest Hospital have been directed to have the facilities especially the isolation wards along with ventilators support for treatment of H1N1. The Chief Secretary also instructed regarding the preventive measures to be taken by various departments on Water Borne and Vector Borne diseases in the present summer season.
