Ludhiana, September 02 : At a brief, but impressive function, H.E. S. Iqbal Singh Lt. Governor Pondicherry was honoured by International Youth Organisation, representatives of Freedom Fighters Association, Veteran Soldiers, Pensioners of Centre & State governments and NGOs at Circuit House here, today. On his first visit to the city after becoming governor he was presented with guard of honour by a police contingent and the members of different organisations under the leadership of Gurbir Singh Kahlon, President IYO gave a warm welcome on his arrival.
S. Iqbal Singh while addressing thanked the people of Punjab for extending him full cooperation during his entire carrier and appealed to the industrialists for making investments in Pondicherry, as the U.T. was a quite peaceful and fast growing place, ideal for tourist industry. He also asked the people to visit Pondicherry as it was a wonderful tourist spot in India. Expressing his thanks to IYO, the Lt. Governor said that the country was making fast strides in all fields with the active involvement of educated and visionary Indian youth.
Apprizing about the objectives and activities of the International Youth Organisation, Col. H.S. Kahlon, Pattern, IYO said that the organisation was working for the establishment of a secular casteless society, equality irrespective of caste, religion and region, help the less privileged sections to fight injustice (social & economic) and help the victims of natural calamities. The organisation was also making all out efforts to enhance and promote understanding among different religions of the world i.e. (Universal Brotherhood), promote and enhance social links between the youth of various countries of the world, help and co-operate with government and other social institutions working for the upliftment of the society, bring awareness about the laws of nature and the human / divine rights enshrined by the creator, expose the misdeeds of the exploiters and improve environment and check rising pollution. He added that the IYO will also extend its full support for the eradication of social evils.
