Respected Sir/Madam,
Honorable, High Court of Punjab and Haryana has directed the state to keep the vigilance on the activities of the quacks and to keep the records of registered medical practitioners at district and state level (Review Application No. 587 of 1999 in Civil Writ Petition No. 1696 of 1997). In the judgment court has given clear instruction to the state authorities to issue the direction to the civil surgeons to verify the registration of the medical practitioners and their medical qualification. But due to unknown reason this is not followed by the civil surgeons and it results in to the illegal practices in health sectors as some example are given here-
- Ayurvedic pharmacist are doing patient examination and prescribing treatment to them in the govt. Ayurvedic dispensaries in Haryana by violating the rules.
- Currently some Ayurveda graduates are supporting the quacks by giving their name and degree for the display and use in the practice.
- Some fake councils and institutes are providing degrees/diplomas in Ayurveda or providing the degree with nomenclature similar to BAMS [i.e. BAMS (AM)].
- Many quacks are doing their medical practices on the name of Ayurveda degrees / diplomas without having any recognized ayurvedic medical qualifications.
Please check the situation as non implementation of court decision is a serious matter. To save the lives of community a strong step is needed. Please do needful to ensure the implementation of Court’s Decision.
