Mother and Child Interactive Program is a medium for mothers to understand the strengths and needs of her child better so the Early Identification and Early Intervention Program can benefit the child to the maximum. The program supports the children in improving communication, language, social skills, interpersonal and play skills and cognitive skills. Mothers and their child participate in structured, scheduled curriculum including games, music, art activities, and play activities. It helps parents to handle behavioural concerns in their child more effectively in the home environment. It also helps change the parents’ attitude regarding disabilities in children and trains the mothers to have a safe, friendly and a learning environment at home. The program guides the mothers to learn to create an atmosphere where the child feels respected, valued and a part of a bigger group, the society.
The program was inaugurated by Prof BS Chavan, Prof & Head Dept of Psychiatry, GMCH-32, Joint Director RIMH-31, Chandigarh.
