Chandigarh, October 5: Cover your mouth while coughing and sneezing, it can spread many diseases with special reference to Tuberculosis for eradication by 2025 said Dr. Abha Sarwal, State TB Officer, Chandigarh while delivering lecture at Kundan International School, Sector-46, Chandigarh.
A TB Awareness and Screening interactive session was organized at Kundan International School, Sector-46, Chandigarh by Revised National TB Control Programme( RNTCP) NHM, Chandigarh in collaboration with Rotary Club midtown under guidance of Dr. G. Dewan, Mission Director National Health Mission cum DHS U.T. Chandigarh. Detailed information regarding cause of tuberculosis, symptoms, Laboratory Tests and Treatment was given by the team of doctors from RNTCP Chandigarh. STO apprised students & teachers of global as well as Indian scenario of Tuberculosis.
Comic Booklets on TB ( Main TB KO ROK RAHA HUN) were also distributed to the school children and Principal Ms Manjeet Jauhar was presented the Comic Booklet to be kept in School Library Dr. Rajesh Rana, Medical Officer alongwith team of doctors from RNTCP screened students complaining of symptoms like fever and cough etc. Guidance was given to the students for free sputum examination in the Designated Microscopy Centres cum DOT Centres. Emphasis was given for the role of nutrition, hygiene, ventilation , cough etiquettes and life style for the prevention of the Tuberculosis.Message was given to all school faculty and supportive staff for constant reminders regarding prevention of diseases like Tuberculosis, HIV etc. Tree plantation was done to spread the message of clean n safe environment for prevention of Tuberculosis
