Bhopal:Friday, September 12, 2008:Government Blood Banks are being upgraded in the state under ‘Blood Safety Programme’ of National AIDS Control Organisation. Under the scheme seven Major Blood Banks and 45 Blood Banks of district-level hospitals have been upgraded.
The seven district level Blood Banks selected to be upgraded as Major Blood Banks are situated at Khargone, Badwani, Ratlam, Mandsaur, Vidisha, Shahdol and Chhindwara. These Blood Banks will now have the services of an additional lab technician and a consultant so that the blood donors visiting these Blood Banks could be given better counselling.
Due to efforts of State AIDS Control Committee, sanction has also been given to upgrade the Blood Bank of Satna District Hospital (BCSU). Now this Blood Bank will work as an independent unit called Blood Component Separation Unit. It may be mentioned here that blood can be separated in three to four categories at the BCSU as per requirements of different patients.
