Chandigarh ; As part of the initiative of the Chandigarh administrations Higher Education Dept. to spread awareness about various social activities by involving college students, the Cancer Awareness Society at PGGC-11 organised an orientation program for students. More than 100 students participated in the event. They were made aware of the deadly disease through a power point presentation encapsulating the causes, symptoms, cures and prevention of the disease. Prof. Rajshree Haldar enlightened the students on various aspects of the disease and asked them to join hands in the noble cause of spreading awareness. An year long activity calendar was also discussed during the program. Students will be motivated to become volunteers and will be assigned activities to generate awareness about the disease within and outside the campus, informed the coordinator Prof. Aparna Kaushal. Students will be motivated to put in 50 hrs of social work during the session and will be awarded certificates by the Chandigarh administration informed Principal, Dr. J.S. Raghu. A documentary on cancer was also screened for students to better their understanding of the disease.
