Prof. Sunit Singhi has been elected as President elect of World Federation of Pediatric Intensive and Critical Care Societies. The Federation is the apex body of Pediatric Intensive Care Societies and Associations from all over the world including Europe and U.S. This is first time that an Indian has been elected to this highest post. He has contributed to promotion of Pediatric Critical Care worldwide. Dr. Singhi is current Vice President and a Board Member from Asia for the last 10 years, Earlier this year, he was awarded Dr. K.L. Wig Oration: 2012-13 titled ‘Improving Child Survival; Pediatric Critical Care training and education is the key” by the National Academy of Medical Sciences in recognition to his contribution towards education in Pediatric Critical Care – for conducting Advance Life Support courses and Basic Intensive Care courses. He contributed to and guided development of Practice and Education in Pediatric Critical Care as Founder President of Indian Society for Trauma and Emergency Pediatrics, Founder National Convener of PALS Courses, Chairperson of the Pediatric Intensive Care Chapter of the IAP (1998-2002) and Pediatric Section of the Indian Society of Critical Care (2002-2004). He is a fellow of American College of Critical Care, Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine, Indian College of Critical Care Medicine, National Academy of Pediatrics and hony. Member of American Pediatric Society. In last, he has received ICMR National award : Amrut Modi Unichem 2010 for Research in Child Health, National Swasth Bharat Award 2011 for Pediatrics for excellence in medical services and contribution to Public Health Care System of India, Claris Oration Award of Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine 2003, Gold Medal of National Neonatology Forum 1993, SS Manchanda Gold Medal of Indian Academy of Pediatrics 1976, 23rd Oration of Vivekanand Institute of Medical Sciences, 2009, Harishchandra Oration of Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Andhra Pradesh 2009 and several best paper awards at National and International Conferences.
