16 Dec : Professor. S.V. Rana, in-charge of Clinical Biochemistry Section of Super Speciality of Gastroenterology Department, PGIMER, Chandigarh got Award for Best Presentation in oral paper session during 50th Annual Conference of Indian Society of Gastroenterology held at Kolkata from 9th -13th December 2009. This award was for her research work of an ICMR project. In this study, phenotypic and genotypic methods of measuring slow and fast acetylators (in tuberculosis patients on Anti-tubercular treatment) have been compared. It has been established that simple and inexpensive phenotypic method to measure slow and fast acetylators can replace the expensive genotypic method.
She is also the Vice-President of Nutrition Society of India since last two years and again has been elected for another two years for the same.
